I like top 5 lists, so as of right now today, these 5 would be my choices. Most of these are more "collector" than "shooter" in terms of price, but what is the point of owning firearms you don't shoot?
1. Holland and Holland double rifle in 470 Nitro Express with automatic ejectors, regulated at 50 yards with a 500 grain bullet.
2. Mauser 1918 T-Gewehr
3. Anzio Iron Works 20mm Vulcan rifle. This is only because getting a Lahti is problematic.
4. 45 ACP Luger prototype.
5. Lemat Revolver

The only surviving .45 ACP Luger is worth about $2 million dollars, and is considered the single most valuable firearm in the world. I wish someone would put it on a traveling exhibit.
I suspect someone, somewhere manufactures a custom copy of the .45ACP Luger. Probably costs an obscene bunch, but far less than $2 million.

Personally, I want the .45ACP Broomhandle Mauser.
With custom stainless flash suppressor and red dot sight, a la Han Solo.
No pity for Greedo.

a big fan of the Lemat myself.
I'm surprised that you're the first person to list the .45 Luger. :)
Heck Tam, I'm surprised that I don't have any of JMB's offerings on the list, but probably because his designs were commercially successful so I've already owned or shot most of them.
Still, I'd love to hunt in Africa with a double rifle even though I'm a recoil wuss. Maybe my next next Mauser project should be to finish up that 416 Taylor....
Scratching my head here...
saw a lahti for sale 2 yrs ago - about 12k IIRC, with the "extras"
a turnkey+ package
but, it wasn't a solothurn
