This may be in poor taste....

But when a Dutch crazy person opens fire with an "automatic rifle" and kills six I think that just goes to show that US nutjobs are even more effective than European nutjobs, cause Jared Loughner killed six with just a handgun.

The bottom line, some people are crazy.  Some crazy people have access to guns.  And as any Mensa member will tell you, the following statement should be "It is impossible to determine if someone is crazy based on whether or not they have access to guns."

So Joan, about those "effective common sense" laws that prevent this kind of thing?  Laws don't prevent shit.  Laws give you a legal mechanism to prosecute people who do a certain type of action, you genocidal twit.

I presume "Joan" is Joan Peterson of the blog Common Gunsense?

I agree, she is a twit, but I do understand why she feels the way she does. Her sister was killed by her husband with a gun, so Joan hates guns. What I don't understand is why Joan is so mendacious about her goals: I believe she wants all guns turned over to the police or other authorities, but she cloaks herself in the guise of "common sense" gun laws.

Joan feels the way she does because she is incapable of accepting that people must be held accountable for their actions.

I don't worry much about taste.

It's true though, what you said. I bet (guessing) the American shooter was using some cheap FMJ rounds, which likely drove down the fatality percentage. That's just conjecture, though.

Lessons learned from the Arizona and Dutch shootings- large magazine capacity means little, by itself. Rate of fire means little by itself as well. Shot placement is everything.

And, by the way, AM, Joan is right. People aren't responsible for their own actions; inanimate objects are responsible for people's actions.

Duh. *rolls eyes*

I mean, haven't you ever watched an M2 screw its own barrel on, set its own headspace and timing, unlock and march out of the arms room, load up a belt of API, and start spraying, all on it's own accord?

Happened all the time when I was in...

Of course, gun owners aren't capable of decision making. Those decision rights lie only with anti-liberty types. Just ask 'em.

AM,

I visited her site for the first time just now.

Wow.

I'll have to return there often.

The entire thing is based on arrogance "she knows better" and false premises.

What a piece of work.

Yes, BUT, what about the British? Sailor shoots three others on their newest nuclear sub and the local politician has to take the shooter down. Only the govt and police should have guns though.

I'll get the MedKit.

Yes, Joan "feeeeeels" the way she does because of her loss, and has turned it into a self-righteous crusade to control everyone, instead of insisting the murderer be executed!
Typical AmFem emotionalism.
