When your boss does something horrendously stupid, and doesn't listen to your warnings, you have two options. First option is to go above your bosses head and talk to his boss and try to get the right thing done. The second option is to comply with your boss' orders and execute them to the full extent of your ability then laugh as all the bad things you predicted come to pass.
What if the conservatives and libertarians just decided to maliciously comply with the leadership of the current administration? Would it be easier to live through the second Great Depression that would surely follow?
Or is it easier to resist and fight the long war?
In the martial arts their are "sacrificial throws" where both parties end up on the ground, but the one who executed the sacrificial throw ends up in a position of advantage once on the mat. If it comes to the point where the fall is inevitable, I hope that we choose to make it as hard and fast as possible to come up on top after we hit the mat.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Wound up doing much the same vs. that 4th type of Soldier you've talked about. I'm sure they are in any organization.
I believe Tom Baugh said something like this toward the end of his "A Nation Without A Country" series.
He likened it to the country sliding towards a precipice, clawing frantically to stop the inevitable plummet, from what I remember. His thoughts were that perhaps we should "quit clawing".
I would think a Restoration would be easier and less painful in the long run if it was quick instead of slow and gradual, but you never can be sure.
Good thoughts.

Where I work, we have a layer of ombudsmen, and special offices for these times. You are not only expected to not do anything wrong, you're expected to refuse instructions from anyone - from your immediate supervisor up to the CEO - if they suggest anything unethical. It actually works that way.
So I'm a bit out of my area when I read this.
Can you give some examples?
Well, imagine that your boss gets the good idea to go down a logging road because it is clearly marked on the map. He tells you this over the radio because he is a couple miles away and wants to shave some time getting back to base camp. You try to explain that going down such a road is an invitation to get stuck. And your boss tells you to shut up because he knows what he is doing.
And then he gets stuck. And has to come over the radio to get a tow out of the mud. And he ends up spending even more time lost than if he would have taken the road you told him to.
That is a pretty good example of malicious compliance.
I am just tired of it all. Throwing money at it will not make it better, just worse. Let it fall. Rebuilding is much easier than trying to keep it propped up. Once it is down we can build and even better foundation from what we have learned from old and build an even stronger structure on top of it. Those who want to keep propping it up only want to because it keeps them in power or in the money.
For instance, if the quickest way past the fire was through the fire...?
I agree completely with letting it go. I'm not getting any younger and I want to spare my kids from doing a job that I should have finished already.
